Disney World removes “FastPass +” from the attraction board

When Walt Disney World reopened its theme parks to the public in mid-July 2020, several changes were implemented – one of which was the elimination of FastPass +. It was indicated that this would be a temporary suspension of FastPass + for the time being due to the pandemic. Even so, several months after the first theme park reopened last summer, the service has not yet returned.

At the moment, the official Disney World website states the following regarding FastPass +:

FastPass + Selections

As a result of the impact of COVID-19 on operations, the FastPass + service is suspended for the time being. The FastPass + service is not offered with the purchase of tickets or annual passes. We will share future updates at a later date.

Currently, Disney has not stated when FastPass + will return to theme parks; however, on a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, park goer Mitchell Lancaster noticed that the FastPass + sign on Space Mountain looked a little different.

In fact, the words FastPass + have been completely removed from the sign! This queue sign used to read “FastPass + Entry” in large white letters (which you can see in the photo above), but now, the sign is completely blank (which you can see in the photo below):

At the time of publication, Disney World has given no indication that FastPass + is over forever and, as mentioned, the official Walt Disney World website still notes that the service is suspended.

This sign from Space Mountain may be an indication that Disney has plans to move FastPass + to Space Mountain (or in general) in some way, but it may also be just a regular maintenance job that Disney World employees may be on. realizing. They may even be planning to use the FastPass + queue space for the regular queue of waiting attractions. Or, it is possible that they are performing maintenance on the FastPass + queue signal to keep it in top shape before service returns to Disney World theme parks. However, this is all speculation, and for now we just know that some guests may be a little confused by the current signage!

In California, Disneyland also has a FASTPASS system, which will also be temporarily suspended once theme parks are reopened for visitors on the West Coast.
