A Disney World ticket seller helped a woman in Pennsylvania escape domestic violence, police said.
The Northern York County Regional Police Department in Pennsylvania said the agent could hear the woman who called screaming, “get off me” and “get off me,” reported WESH, an affiliate of NBC Orlando.
The reservation officer asked the woman if she was calling because she needed a trip, and she said no. When the reservation officer asked the woman if she needed help, the woman replied that she did, according to WESH.
Northern York County Police, who could not be reached immediately on Sunday, arrived at her home on 9 January.
The woman told police she was arguing with her boyfriend, Wayne Shiflett, about her professional situation.
WESH reports that the woman said that Shiflett, 38, choked her and she feared for her life.
Records show that Shiflett, who was charged with strangulation, terrorist threats intended to terrorize another, simple attack, remained in York County prison on Sunday. It was not immediately clear whether he had representation.
Law enforcement officials and experts have warned against trying to contact 911 through third parties or in a coded language like the “pizza order”, saying that some people can be misunderstood. Some departments now offer the ability to send a “911” text message to those who are in a situation where they are afraid to make a call.
