Disney + calls ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ his debut in the ‘most-watched’ series

Taking note of Netflix, Disney + released a press release on the impressive performance of its latest exclusive release, without including any figures or even notes on the methodology used. In a way or another, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier apparently rated “the premiere of the most-watched series of all time on Disney + during its opening weekend … and the most-watched title overall for the same period on a global basis.”

Unsurprisingly, premieres of WandaVision and The Mandalorian the second season are the other top-rated premieres based on whatever system Disney is using, but it looks like Snyder Cut from HBO Max Justice League failed to make everyone gloomy and ignore the MCU for an entire weekend.

While streaming services carefully collect data about what people watch, when they watch it, and even where they stop to switch to something else, they don’t share that information with the public. Third parties like Nielsen provide some insight into what they think is popular, but other than that, we are in the dark. In early 2020, Netflix explained a change in how their ratings are calculated and started rolling out more detailed viewer numbers based on this method, but it looks like Disney + will not follow that path.
