Dishonored co-creator is working on a new Arkane game with developers Dishonored and Prey

Dishonored co-creator Harvey Smith is working on an unannounced new game at Arkane Austin, alongside the developers of the Dishonored and Prey teams. Speaking to Vandal (and translated by IGN), Smith explained that he returned to Austin after completing Dishonored 2 in The Arkane Studio in Lyon, and confirmed that he is not part of the company’s next game, but of a separate, unannounced project: “I’m not on Deathloop, I’m on something else, working with the guys who made Dishonored and Prey.”

Smith no longer makes any mention of what this project could be, or how far it could be. It may be a new Dishonored game, but we already know that any sequel to the much-loved immersive simulation series would feature new characters, after Death of the Outsider ‘expanded’ marked the end of the series as we know it.

Whatever the game ends up being, it will be part of the new era of Microsoft’s Bethesda games, meaning it will almost certainly be released on the Game Pass and, perhaps, even an Xbox exclusive.

Vandal asked Smith if the next acquisition had changed anything in Arkane so far, and he replied that there was no difference so far. He added that, of all possible partners for Bethesda, he would have a hard time thinking of a better one than Microsoft, concluding: “They fit perfectly.”

Before we see Smith’s game, however, there is the issue of the extremely exciting Deathloop, which arrives for PS5 and PC on May 21st. We named the time-loop FPS as one of the biggest games to come in 2021, mainly because of its intriguing gameplay reveals last year.
