Discovery of ‘GoldenEye 007’ XBLA remastering footage canceled

Footage of a complete remastered Xbox Live Arcade game from the canceled N64 game GoldenEye 007 appeared in Youtube.

The video shows a full game of the game, along with 30 minutes of multiplayer footage running at 4K / 60 FPS on the Xenia emulator. The emulator was used to allow game images to be reproduced at this resolution and frame rate.

The video is available below on the Graslu00 channel:

The remastered was originally planned for launch in 2007 and was later canceled.

The opening of the game shows the characters of the N64 in comparison with its remastered versions, update completely remodeled and with new HD textures.

In the video description, Graslu00 posted a small FAQ, where he said he was informed that the remastering “will be launched in 2021” in some way.

In Twitter Graslu00 also said the footage was not related to a recent data leak via the 4chan message board, but was available on PartnerNet, a version of Xbox Live available only to developers of development kits.

Although the XBLA version of the game was never released, a remake of the Wii titled GoldenEye 007 was launched in 2010. Developed by Eurocom and published by Activision, it later received an HD port called GoldenEye 007: reloaded.

In other James Bond news, Io Interactive, the developers of Hitman series revealed that he started working on a James Bond game, which is currently known as Project 007.

The developer said the game will be a “totally original” origin story for the character, who set out to earn 00 status.

Since the news broke, Io has revealed the details of the interview they had with Barbara Broccoli and Eon Productions, the producers behind the James Bond films. At the meeting, Broccoli said that the previous games were not “worthy enough” of the license and featured “violence because of violence”.
