Discord banned a server called “The Donald”, a pro-Trump community linked to the subreddit r / The_Donald and TheDonald.win banned. The news was first reported in Platformer writer (and Border contributor) Casey Newton.
The ban comes two days after a pro-Trump crowd stormed the U.S. Capitol, encouraged by President Trump, although Discord says there is no evidence that the server was used to organize the riots.
In STILL OTHER news, @Discord says he banned the server The Donald, which was connected to TheDonald dot Win and the subreddit Donald.
Decision made “due to its open connection to an online forum used to incite violence and plan an armed uprising,” said spox.

“We have a zero tolerance policy against hate and violence of any kind on the platform, or the use of Discord to support or organize around violent extremism,” said Discord in a statement shared with The Verge. “Although there is no evidence of a server called The Donald being used to organize the January 6 riots, Discord decided to ban the entire server today due to his open connection to an online forum used to incite violence, to plan an armed uprising in the United States United States, and spread harmful misinformation related to US electoral fraud in 2020 ”.
Reddit banned the pro-Trump subreddit r / The_Donald in June, following an expansion of its policies to ban hate speech more explicitly. Donald’s Discord server was one of the places where former r / The_Donald members met after the ban, as detailed in this Mother Jones October article.
Reddit also banned the unofficial pro-Trump subreddit r / donaldtrump on Friday “due to repeated policy violations in recent days regarding US Capitol violence”
