Director Bong Joon Ho becomes the first South Korean to be named jury president of the ‘2021 Venice Film Festival’

Renowned Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho established another milestone in history by becoming the first to be appointed president of the jury of ‘Venice Film Festival 2021‘from South Korea.

According to the film festival’s official website, director Bong Joon Ho stated: “The Venice International Film Festival carries a long and varied history, and I am honored to be involved in its beautiful cinematic tradition. As president of the jury – and more importantly, as a perpetual film buff – I am ready to admire and applaud all the great films selected by the festival. I am full of genuine hope and enthusiasm, “

Alberto Barbera, artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, announced that director Bong would serve as president of the festival’s jury, declaring: “He is one of the most authentic and original voices in world cinema.
