Diogo Dalot reacts to Man Utd by drawing AC Milan in the Europa League

Diogo Dalot’s current club will face his father in the Europa League after Milan drew with Manchester United.

The Portuguese star is on loan to the Italian club in search of rediscovering its best form.

And the 21-year-old was quick to comment on United’s Instagram post, announcing the game.

He responded with an eye emoji – and Dalot will be eligible to play in the European showdown.

Dalot started seven of Milan’s eight Europa League games this season and will again be available to coach Stefano Pioli.

The Serie A team defeated Crvena Zvezda in the round of 16 tie with United defeating Spanish opponents at Real Sociedad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will host the first leg on March 11, before traveling to San Siro a week later.

The tie will also meet former player Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 39-year-old played for the club under José Mourinho, scoring 29 times for the Red Devils.

Solskjaer was extremely impressed by the Swede and has already joked about Dalot’s presence.

“Zlatan, of course, I was so impressed, I must say, with how his career went,” he said.

“He had an injury that threatened his career when he was here, but he came back and went to [the] MLS returned to Milan and really encouraged them.

“They are on a high and are doing very well this season. I was very impressed with him, and Diogo we know. He went there to gain experience at a big club and learned a lot.

“He played a lot more games this season, kept his shape and, hopefully, we can bother him!”

United faced Milan twice in the Champions League qualifiers between 2007 and 2010, with each side winning a draw.

And Solskjaer was already relishing the challenge against another heavyweight name.

He added: “We have a tradition of making it difficult for us to draw. It’s one of those draws that you feel could be a Champions League game, “he said.

“It is good for us to have these games ahead of us. This team needs challenges and we like challenges and we embrace them.

“The tradition and history of AC Milan, it is a great club that we received and it is a great stadium that we are going to, and we are looking forward to it.”
