Dining at one of Gordon Ramsay’s many restaurants is an experience, but a customer was not happy when he received the check.

A snack bar at Ramsay’s Plane Food restaurant at London’s Heathrow airport was shocked to discover that a hamburger, fries and a Coke had cost £ 30.25, or about $ 41.

The receipt they posted said that the rib burger – which includes beef, cheese and chimichurri mayonnaise – cost £ 15.50.

Triple-baked chips cost £ 5, while Coke cost £ 4.50.

Completing the account, there was a service fee, a coverage fee and value added tax.

But many people on Twitter didn’t think the cost was really unfair, saying it was normal for an airport.

“It’s @GordonRamsay at an airport. What did you expect?” a commenter tweeted. “If it was the best hamburger and fries you’ve ever eaten, it’s certainly worth the price.”

“It is an airport, you probably knew the prices before placing the order,” added another.

A person who said he worked at Heathrow said it was normal for prices to go up beyond security.

“You are a captive customer,” they said. “All prices go up, they also have rentals to pay to the airport.”

They added: “If you need a meal, take it to land (security be4).”

Ramsay’s representatives did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment.

This is not the first time that Ramsay is called for the price of his food

Star “MasterChef” made headlines in November when it was announced that he was opening a restaurant with a £ 80 hamburger on the menu.

The expensive wagyu burger – from Gordon Ramsay Burger in London – has a beef burger, grilled wagyu sirloin, truffled Pecorino cheese, cep mayonnaise and fresh black truffles.

But it doesn’t come with chips, which cost £ 6 more.

Some people on social media were not impressed by the exorbitant price, especially during the pandemic.

“It would be nice if all these famous millionaire chefs could meet the budget of normal people and not other millionaires,” wrote a commentator on Instagram.

“£ 80 is more than what’s left in food for the month at the moment. Thanks for that,” said another on Twitter.

And in September, Ramsay was called to serve a small but expensive full English breakfast at his Savoy Grill restaurant in London.

The £ 19 dish has two eggs, a few slices of bacon, a portobello mushroom, a grilled tomato, a pork sausage link and a baked bean gravy.

Several people noticed that full English breakfasts are generally known for their large portions and asked where the rest of Ramsay’s was.

But in typical Ramsay style, the “MasterChef” star didn’t let all the criticism pass – he unleashed his famous “dumb sandwich” return.

Ramsay told Insider that he was close to the plate.

“It is a meal that I would eat as a last supper,” he said. “It has to be a full English breakfast with extra baked beans.

“And you know what? If you’re concerned about the price, you can’t afford it,” he added.
