Diego Maradona’s cell phones will open on Friday so prosecutors investigating his death can get his latest messages.
A judge approved a request for access to the two football icon smartphones earlier this week.
Investigators trying to establish whether Diego’s death was a wrongful death caused by medical malpractice confirmed today that telephone work would begin on February 19.

The two iPhones seized from the room where he died last November will remain locked in the Public Ministry in San Isidro, near Buenos Aires, until then.
Sources close to the ongoing criminal investigation said investigators would seek to find out if Diego expressed concerns about his health and with whom he exchanged messages and chatted days before his death from heart failure in a rented house near the Argentine capital.
Cardiac surgeon Leopoldo Luque, Diego’s doctor, and his psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov were already under official investigation before the list of ‘suspects’ increased to five earlier in the week.
The three additional people placed under formal investigation were named Carlos Diaz, a psychologist who treats the former Barcelona and Naples star, and nurses Dahiana Madrid and Ricardo Almiron.

Almiron worked the night shift at the former football player’s rented house on the day of his death and said Maradona was asleep when he left at 6:30 am on November 25, about six hours before the alarm went off.
Colleague Dahiana Madrid admitted at the beginning of the prosecution investigation that she lied about a morning check-up in Maradona.
She claimed that she had lied about entering her room after being pressured to do so by the medical company that employed her.
Diego’s doctor was labeled a ‘son of a bitch’ by the football icon’s eldest daughter, Dalma, earlier this month, through a series of rude messages he exchanged with Cosachov and other colleagues.
They were leaked to the Argentine media after experts accessed phones belonging to them, which were confiscated by investigators after searching their homes and offices.
Luque told a WhatsApp business partner after Diego passed out, before it was known that he had died: ‘The fat man will end up kicking the bucket.’
He also told Cosaschov when she confirmed that efforts to revive Diego were failing as he drove to the scene: “Let me know if they are upset with us.”
Luque denied any wrongdoing, despite criticism of his supervision of Maradona’s care following his discharge from the hospital after a blood clot operation in the brain.
Local reports say that the same software technology used to access data from phones owned by Luque and Cosachov, including information encrypted by decryption and protected by password, will be employed to analyze Diego’s two phones.
In a last shocking video by Maradona, made just a few days before his death, the Argentine icon murmurs his words and admits: ‘I am hurt’.

The former Naples and Barcelona star, with his head still bandaged after an operation on a blood clot in the brain, sometimes seems to have trouble finding his words while sending a message to his doctor from the kitchen of the rented house where he died .

Showing that he still had a sense of humor, despite the obvious discomfort, he ended the game jokingly that his message was addressed to a retired Argentine player whose name is almost identical to that of his controversial doctor Leopoldo Luque.
