Did JJ Watt receive an offer worth $ 15 million – $ 16 million?

THE JJ Watt the draws are starting to heat up. ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year “received contract offers from several teams”. The most profitable offer is believed to be in the range of $ 15 million to $ 16 million, by Russini.

A handful of teams were continuously connected to Watt, including the Cleveland Browns. The ESPN report notes that it is uncertain whether the Browns are one of the teams that sent an offer to the veteran pass rusher. Cleveland is armed with more than $ 30 million in capitalization space and was previously considered a legitimate threat to hire Watt.

The Bills, Packers and Titans were also listed as potential landing sites for the 31-year-old. Each of these three teams is still over the limit, so they have some financial hurdles to overcome before they finally sign a lucrative contract with Watt. The Titans have already started with some limit-saving films, including the release of WideOut Adam Humphries from earlier today.

One team that apparently won’t land Watt is the Steelers. Earlier this week, veteran NFL reporter John Clayton said Pittsburgh will not be a landing site for the former Texan standout.

Watt may be aging, but that does not mean that he is not yet productive on the right paper. His five sacks in 2020 were his lowest total in a 16-game campaign (but a half-full mindset would note that a 16-game season is encouraging in itself). In addition, Watt was ranked 7th overall leading defender in Pro Football Focus in 2020, with the advanced metrics website praising the veteran’s work against the race and the pass.
