Blizzard was not kidding when it said Polygon that the new remastered Diablo II would be true to the original. You’ll even be able to pick up where you left off with your 20-year saved games, IGN Middle East reports.

For the rest of the original game’s fan base, however, this can be incredible news: players like me spend a lot of time playing Diablo IIbosses and levels looking for exclusive items, not to mention selling them online and exchanging them within a game that wasn’t really designed for that kind of thing. (One rare item in particular, the Jordan Stone, was actually used as an improvised form of currency.)
Now, all of this progress is theoretically yours, instead of having to start from scratch, and it can even be portable too: theoretically, the game’s cross-save skills on PC and console mean you can even load your OG save in one Nintendo Switch.
Blizzard told our sister site Polygon that remastering basically It is the original game, so it’s not very surprising that the original rescues still work:
