FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
January 12, 2021
COLOMBIA, SC – To provide additional information before tomorrow, when over 70s can start scheduling appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, see below.
- Starting on Wednesday, January 13, people over 70 can start scheduling appointments to receive COVID-19 vaccines in locations that currently accept vaccine schedules.
- DHEC online map at scdhec.gov/vaxlocator will be live on Wednesday, January 13th. This online map will show the locations that currently accept appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine and the map will provide contact information for scheduling appointments at those locations. The map itself is not a way to schedule an appointment.
- As of January 13, individuals can also call the DHEC Care Line at 1-855-472-3432 for help locating contact information to make an appointment. Care Line cannot schedule an appointment, but it can help provide phone numbers for locations that offer vaccine appointments.
- Consultations must be scheduled; walk-ins may not be able to receive the vaccine.
- You will be asked to provide a driver’s license or other form of identification at your appointment that confirms your age to receive the vaccine.
- South Carolina residency is not a requirement for receiving a vaccine.
- The telephone line for scheduling appointments for each location can operate at different times of the day. This is not determined by DHEC.
- South Carolina, like all states, currently has limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine. Some locations that offer the vaccine may not have an appointment available for several weeks, depending on the vaccine supply. The facility receives doses of the vaccine every week from the federal government.
- Individuals are encouraged to schedule their second injection as soon as possible. It is important that individuals receive both doses of the same brand of vaccine to ensure that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
