As more teams work to gain space, a player who chose to leave the 2020 season agreed to a reduced payment to return in 2021.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, wide receiver Devin Funchess agreed to a pay cut of around $ 750,000 to stay with the Packers. He signed a one-year contract worth $ 1.2 million in base salary last April. But Funchess decided to cancel at the end of July, posting on Instagram at the time, “Family first.”
Funchess last played for the Colts in 2019, when he played a game and managed three 32-yard passes before breaking his collarbone. Although Funchess was assigned to return that year, he never left IR and missed the rest of the season.
A former Panthers pick in the second round, Funchess spent his first four seasons with Carolina. He picked up 161 passes for 2,233 yards with 21 touchdowns in 61 games with the franchise.
