After launching Devil May Cry 5 in 2019 and a new Special edition from the action title to next-generation platforms just a few months ago, the game’s director is now teasing what’s to come. Although he hasn’t openly revealed what Capcom’s development team is working on, it looks like some kind of announcement might arrive soon.
In a new Twitter post, Hideaki Itsuno from Capcom released a new image and statement to celebrate the new year. Itsuno started the tweet by begging players to give Vergil’s new DLC for Devil May Cry 5 a photo, if you haven’t done so before, mentioning what’s to come. The beloved video game creator said his team’s next project was apparently being developed in parallel with DMC5 and, for now, it’s still on the right track. Itsuno ended his tweet saying that the next game is still a long way off, but asked fans to be excited about his revelation.
あ け ま し て お め で と う ご ざ い ま す!
DMC5 SE を プ レ イ し ま し た か?
LC ー ド 未 入手 な 方 は バ ー ジ ル DLC を 是非!

Obviously, the big question here involves exactly what Itsuno and the Capcom team are working on right now. While no blatant provocation is found in this tweet, we do have some decent guesses as to what might come next, based on what has happened in recent years.
Dragon Dogma 2, a sequel to the 2012 action adventure title that Itsuno directed, seems to be the most likely candidate to be the one being worked on. In the past, Itsuno has specifically made it clear that for some time he has wanted to make a sequel to the game and almost chose to do it instead of developing Devil May Cry 5. In addition, previous reports that have emerged in recent months have stated that Capcom is already actively developing Dragon Dogma 2.
It is not yet known if this is exactly what Capcom is creating, as Itsuno suggests, it may take a while before putting it in our own hands. With it also being so distant, whatever this game ends up becoming, it certainly won’t come for next-generation hardware and will probably be made exclusively for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S and PC.
So you expect Itsuno and the rest of the Capcom team to be actively doing Dragon Dogma 2, or could it be another project entirely? Let me know your opinion in the comments below or contact me on Twitter at @ MooreMan12 to talk more.
