From Hyper Light Drifter Studio Heart Machine, Solar Gray is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store in late 2021. The developer showed new images of the stylish alien world during Sony’s State of Play presentation on Thursday.
Heart machine unveiled for the first time Solar Gray in 2019. The game’s aesthetic – rich in shades of purple and pink – seems connected to the studio’s legacy. But on the contrary Hyper Light Drifter, which is a pixelated game from top to bottom, Solar Gray is a dynamic 3D game. Solar Gray creative director Alx Preston showed and described the gameplay in a nearly 3-minute video during the Sony event. Preston said that the player takes control of Ash on a mission to save his planet, using “fast and fluid” movements and combat.
“Solar Gray it’s Heart Machine’s vision of the adventure platformer, ”said Preston during the video. “The giant spaces, the feeling of movement, the flow of combat and the high-risk battles over huge beasts come together to bring players something we consider incredibly unique and, most importantly, fun.”
Annapurna Interactive will publish the game when it is released later this year.
