Rumors of Dying Light 2 Techland developer being potentially the target of a future acquisition were pretty exaggerated, it seems. According to the studio’s community manager, Techland is still an independent company and has not been acquired by any other publisher at this time.
The traction with these rumors started yesterday, when the host of a popular Xbox podcast shared that they heard that Microsoft was considering buying Techalnd and making the developer part of its Xbox Game Studios stable. This then generated a response from the aforementioned Techland community manager after mention of the rumor began to appear in his direct Twitter messages. “There was the same rumor circulating on the Internet a year ago and the situation hasn’t changed,” said Uncy, the studio’s community manager. “Techland is an independent studio and has not been acquired by another publisher.”
I am receiving a lot of dms about the acquisition of Dying Light, so I will answer here:
There was the same rumor circulating on the internet a year ago and the situation has not changed – Techland is an independent studio and has not been acquired by another publisher (:– Uncy (@ Uncy8) February 13, 2021
News of the possible acquisition of Techland comes at a time when rumors of acquisition have been circulating for months. Just a few weeks ago, a major new report emerged that said several publishers like Xbox, PlayStation, Electronic Arts and Amazon were trying to snap up several independent studios recently. Considering that Techland is a prominent independent company, it makes sense that they have become one of the companies behind the rumor.
For now, all we really know for sure about Techland is that it’s working hard Dying Light 2. While we haven’t heard anything new about Techland’s game officially in a while, the studio is saying that we should start listening more as the year progresses. In the meantime, a new report has recently emerged that states that the game will be released sooner than we think.
In reality, Dying Light 2 it hasn’t even had a launch window yet, although a launch in 2021 is expected. Whenever it arrives, it will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
