Whenever Dan Campbell is officially named the next Detroit Lions coach, he will bring at least one member of the New Orleans Saints team.

Lions are expected to hire Saints defense coach Aaron Glenn as their next defensive coordinator, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Tuesday.

Glenn, 48, has coached the Saints defense since 2016 and worked as an assistant DB coach with the Cleveland Browns in 2014-15. His best pupil is cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who has made three Pro Bowls in four seasons since the Saints summoned him in the first round outside Ohio in 2017.

Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah endorsed the change, writing on twitter: “My 7V7 coach from @TheOpening in HS! Come on” with a fist emoji.

Glenn played 15 seasons in the league as a cornerback and was three times All-Pro and three times Pro Bowl. The New York Jets chose him 12th overall in the 1994 draft of Texas A&M. Despite having 5 feet 9, he ended his career with 41 interceptions, six returned to touchdowns. He played for the Jets (1994–2001), Houston Texans (2002–04), Dallas Cowboys (2005–06), Jacksonville Jaguars (2007) and Saints (2008).

Glenn was interviewed by Jets and Tennessee Titans for vacancies as a head coach on January 11.

The Lions are free to sign Campbell, Saints’ assistant coach and tight end coach, after New Orleans was eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday.
