Detroit Lions Podcast: Reacting to Brad Holmes as GM

On Thursday, Detroit Lions made a move that we all hope will ultimately be the catalyst for reversing this damn franchise. The hiring of former Rams principal, college staff, Brad Holmes, received a lot of positive reviews in the media on Thursday … but these things almost always seem to be universally praised.

So our podcast team got together for a special EMERGENCY PODCAST Thursday night to find out what we like about the location, what we don’t like and what it means for the future.

We reviewed Holmes’ impressive curriculum, solid character traits, but also major concerns, such as his lack of experience as a general manager or on the professional side of staff. And how much of the Rams’ success really depends on him against Sean McVay?

Some called this hiring the next Bob Quinn, but I go into detail because I don’t think that’s the case.

Next, we’ll look at how this hiring can impact the search for primary coaching in Detroit. Which candidates are most likely to accept the job? Which candidates may be falling out of favor?

Note: this podcast was recorded before Robert Saleh took the job of the Jets. So ignore all of Saleh’s shots.
