Japan takes its pop culture seriously, so you shouldn’t be surprised to see an airport named after a popular manga character, and that airport is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Tottori Airport, also known as Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, owes its name to the beautiful Tottori sand dunes and the equally popular Detective Conan manga and anime.

The association with the little and beloved junior detective comes from the fact that its creator, mangaka Gosho Aoyama, was born in Tottori.

The airport itself is full of images and brands of Detective Conan, and even houses a dedicated store with plenty of merchandise.

As you can see in the image above (courtesy of the local TottoriNoto media), Conan himself also appears in front of the main terminal, with his name written in red inside the airport logo.

As mentioned above, third-party add-on developer Gate15Scenery is working on creating the airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

At the moment, we don’t know when the launch will take place, but you can check out an image of the work in progress below.

This is certainly great for those who love to fly in Japan, as the Chugoku region in Tottori is particularly lovely and, after the first world update, it hasn’t launched much in terms of the local scene.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for Windows 10 and Steam and will be released in the summer of 2021 for the Xbox Series X ad Series S.

Earlier this week, we learned that more than two million players have already installed Microsoft Flight Simulator on their PCs, and a new update was released just before Christmas.
