This 8-minute deep dive started by discussing the three types of vehicles in the game. The first is all about speed, which can drift and corner like no other. The second is agility and was built specifically to give maximum control. The third type is heavy vehicles and can withstand most damage. These cars are disposable by design and you must be constantly getting in and out of vehicles to earn points and destroy your opponents.
When you’re on the run, destroying enemies and picking up pick-ups, you’ll be carrying both your hero’s vehicle skill and the hero’s skill, each being unique to one of the 16 characters you choose.
The State of Play has revealed Lupita’s fire trail skills that damage everyone in its wake, while Shyft’s are more strategic, as they can make them invisible and allow them to disappear from the minimap.
All heroes will be able to move faster and double jump in hero mode. In or out of hero mode, all heroes can run on the wall, jump, increase the jump, bounce off the walls, dodge and more.
We also took a look at some Destruction AllStars modes, which were revealed last year. The three modes presented were Carnado, Stockpile and Gridfall.
The currency was also discussed, and is made up of All-Star coins and points of destruction. All-Star coins are earned by playing online and earning XP, while Destruction Points can be purchased at PlayStation Store.
After launch, there will be daily and weekly challenges in which players can compete to earn destruction points.
Finally, the Challenge Series was introduced, which focuses on a single star and its rival. In addition to getting “a little background and motivation”, there will be unique challenges and gameplay and it will all culminate in a final showoff against your rival.
