AllStars Destruction, the exclusive derby game for PlayStation 5, will soon sell for $ 20, developer Lucid Games announced today – a $ 50 drop in the original $ 70 game price.
Last September, during a digital showcase, Sony announced that some PS5 games would cost $ 70, a noticeable increase from the standard price of $ 60. One of those games, AllStars Destruction, was initially planned as a PS5 launch title, but was pushed back for three months in October. In February, it became available to PS Plus members at no extra cost. Unlike most “free” PS Plus games, it would stay that way for two months, instead of one.
Once the two-month PS Plus period ends on April 6, AllStars Destruction will be sold for $ 20.
AllStars Destruction was plagued with some launch issues, mainly that group chat was enabled by default, with no options in the game to turn it off. In addition, the voice chat was relayed through that tiny speaker on the face of the PS5 controllers. (I know. Criminal.) A previous hotfix solved the problem, allowing players the option to silence other players.
G / O Media can receive a commission
Purely on gameplay merits, AllStars Destruction it is very fun in bursts and looks a bit like other online games that have experienced increases in popularity at times of zero dollar sticker prices. (To see: Fall Guys, Rocket League.) It also offers microtransactions. I, for one, wouldn’t be surprised if, like Rocket League before that, the $ 20 game price drops to $ 0 sometime in the future.
