Destruction AllStars enables voice chat by default and is unpleasant

Players who entered Sony’s new PS5 game to destroy cars AllStars Destruction you may have encountered a very unpleasant problem: voice chat in the game’s multiplayer matches is enabled by default.

In one round, I was subjected to the music of someone playing in the background throughout the match. In another, I heard every word of someone teaching their friend how to play. Kotaku we have collected many more examples of people frustrated with standard voice chat and it seems that many have heard things much worse than me.

The DualSense’s built-in microphone adds to the problem. Unless you proactively press the mute button, the microphone will pick up everything that is happening around you and transmit it to your other players. The voice chats you hear during a match will also be played on the DualSense’s built-in speaker, if you don’t have a headset connected, much to the chagrin of anyone sitting next to you.

Frustrated, there is no immediately obvious way to disable voice chat. I couldn’t find any options to do this in the game’s menus, and I only found out by browsing the internet after playing the game on Tuesday that you have to disable voice chat in the PS5 menu.

To do this, while you are in a match, press the PlayStation button, scroll up to the Activity Cards above the bottom line of icons, navigate to the voice chat card and press the square button. However, annoyingly, this disables voice chat in just one game – you’ll have to go through the process again each game to silence your other players.

Hopefully, Sony will fix this problem soon with some kind of patch or fix. But for now, you will hear lots of voice chats, unless you turn them off from all games. AllStars Destruction is now available for free download for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
