Designing South Carolina Baseball Lineup

The South Carolina baseball team is just over a week away from the field for the first time when it welcomes Dayton to Founders Park for a series of three games starting on February 19. Gamecocks have ended two weeks of pre-season friendly games and are in the middle of trying to tighten up a few more games this weekend before the season arrives.

Fourth-year head coach Mark Kingston likes to rotate his players and change the starting lineup at the beginning of the season, and it will certainly be the case this year. Opening Day’s lineup is almost certain to be different for the second game of the season.

Being on the Opening Day roster is special, however, and signals that a player has won a battle for position through months of practice in the fall and a month of pre-season preparation.

With a few games left to determine exactly what the lineup and batting order will look like, let’s try one more time who will be there for Gamecocks on Opening Day. There are only four games this season before South Carolina faces rival Clemson.
