Design a custom DualSense controller via ColorWare

One of the main criticisms raised on the PS5 at launch was about its black and white color scheme, and fans wanting more options for the console itself and the DualSense controller. ColorWare now offers a complete set of custom designs for the DualSense controller, allowing you to customize the colors in the four facets of the controller, as well as personalized text on the trackpad.

Check out the customization options on the ColorWare website.

ColorWare allows you to choose from a variety of colors regardless of the body (the white part of DualSense), the middle (the black part), buttons and trackpad. The body, the middle and the trackpad can have solid or metallic colors in matte or gloss, while the buttons have only the satin finish options available. You can also get text recorded on the touchpad. ColorWare uses the Sony DualSense OEM controller and customizes it according to your specific design with painted shells and components, so you don’t buy a third-party controller. You are getting the original DualSense OEM, painted according to your design.

If you want a customized DualSense controller, however, be prepared to pay. The price starts at $ 109 and includes the controller and customizations for the body and middle portions. Customizing the buttons and the trackpad adds $ 10 each, while text recording costs $ 20. You also need to pay shipping and taxes, which can increase the cost of this controller to more than $ 150. Shipping can take anywhere from five to six weeks to reach you.

Please note that because ColorWare needs to disassemble the controller to paint and customize it, the process will void the Sony manufacturer’s warranty. ColorWare, however, has its own parts and a one-year labor warranty. The warranty covers all costs of regular hardware failure within that period.

While ColorWare focuses on custom DualSense controllers, other manufacturers are testing options for custom PS5 consoles. One company tried to commercialize custom faceplates for the console, but was quickly faced with legal pressure from Sony. Dbrand also began advertising for sale PS5 custom faceplates and challenged Sony to sue them. Others are taking a different path, customizing and selling complete special edition consoles. A set of PS5-themed PS2 consoles hits stores this week, while another $ 900k PS5 is being lined with solid gold and crocodile leather, if you have money to spare.
