The numbers continue to rise for Deshaun Watson, while his camp remains silent.
Lawyer Tony Buzbee told FOX 26 in Houston on Monday night that the total number of aggression lawsuits against the Texas quarterback reached 14, with 24 total claims now under consideration by the Buzbee company.
“Most cases claim to same or similar conduct, ”Buzbee said of civil complaints alleging misconduct during massages.
In the midst of all this, Watson and his representatives spoke very little. Although the time has not yet come to formally respond to these complaints, Watson’s silence has become deafening to the court of public opinion.
Despite Buzbee’s aggressive tactics and sometimes false and / or unreliable public statements (for example, he’s not looking for publicity when he is, cases are not about money when they are, he doesn’t know the Texan owner “Cal or Hal [McNair] whatever his name ”), Buzbee’s approach is resonating with the public largely because Watson’s approach has been to do or say almost anything.
In the meantime, it is somewhat unusual for no other attorney to represent clients who are making similar claims against Watson. In a situation like this, other lawyers who have law firms with significant monthly expenses and who are in fact in the habit of seeking advertising and / or money, will begin to present themselves with other own plaintiffs. With so many women making so many complaints against Watson, it is a little strange that none of them ended up being represented by anyone other than Buzbee.
Then again, maybe this is the next step in all of this. Given the way this matter has grown, there is no reason to think that the list of potential claimants will end in 24. There may be more that are being evaluated by other lawyers in Houston or elsewhere.
Even though there are no additional claimants, the magnitude of the claims makes it increasingly difficult to think that there is an innocent explanation or that they are embellishing, fabricating or shamelessly lying.
