DeSean Jackson signals he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA – DeSean Jackson went to social media on Friday to signal that he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Looking forward to my next chapter,” Jackson posted on Instagram Story. “Philadelphia is always love. Enjoy everything.”

The Eagles acquired Jackson, 34, from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, meeting the recipient of deep threats with the team that recruited him in 2008.

Jackson fueled the excitement with a pair of touchdowns over 50 yards in the 2019 opening match against the Washington Football Team, but injuries have limited his overall impact over the past two seasons. He played only three games in 19 because of a central muscle injury and lost 11 games last season with an ankle injury.

With Jackson’s release, the Eagles are expected to get about $ 6 million in limit relief. Philadelphia is currently projected to be about $ 50 million above the 2021 salary cap and will continue to cut wages before the league starts in March.

Jackson recorded the highest number of touchdowns over 60 yards (24) in the history of the NFL and is sixth in yards per reception (17.4).
