Des Kitchings accepts a job in the NFL

South Carolina’s football program is down. Again. According to published reports, including one from FootballScoop, former running back trainer Des Kitchings is leaving the program to assume the same position with the Atlanta Falcons.

This is the second time in two years that the Gamecocks running back trainer has left after a season to get a job in the National Football League. Thomas Brown left South Carolina after a stint last year to work for the Los Angeles Rams.

Kitchings is also the fourth assistant coach in this off-season to agree to a new contract with the Gamecocks – and in fact he agreed to two different modifications to his contract – but he still left the program. Offensive former coaches Mike Bobo and Will be friend along with the defensive line coach Tracy Rocker everyone left Gamecocks for Auburn.

Even though Kitchings is leaving the program, Gamecocks are much better in the running back room with All-SEC tailback Kevin Harris leading the way along with ex-running back five stars SeaShawn Lloyd back to the room too.

South Carolina also has running backs on scholarships Rashad Amos and ZaQuandre White returning from last season, along with the incoming freshman Caleb McDowell.

Kitchings, who played college football at Furman, came to South Carolina after spending eight seasons in the state of North Carolina.
