Derrick Lewis took a big turnaround on Saturday, knocking out Curtis Blaydes in the main event of UFC Vegas 19 in the second round.
However, even Lewis could not believe that Blaydes was really depressed after he shook him with a cruel uppercut. Lewis jumped straight into Blaydes and started hitting a few more blows to the head before the referee pulled him. Asked why he kept fighting when Blaydes was down, Lewis referred to WWE star Undertaker.
Lewis entered the octagon as a +320 underdog (bet $ 100 to win $ 320) and quickly proved that it was a mistake to underestimate him. This is now Lewis’ fourth straight win, and his second in a row by knockout, after losing consecutive fights to Daniel Cormier and Junior dos Santos in 2018 and 2019.
Blaydes hasn’t lost since he faced Francis Ngannou in 2018. Now he’s on the wrong side of UFC history thanks to a knockout that surprised him, Lewis and many punters around the world.
