If the hypocrisy of Democratic politicians were a source of energy, Americans could let their lights go on all the time and never see a bill.
Democrats are criticizing Republican senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Josh Hawley of Missouri for opposing votes from the Arizona and Pennsylvania Electoral College over serious questions about ballot irregularities.
Democrats denounced these two legislators to the Senate Ethics Committee for their January 6 legislative intervention, which, unfortunately, coincided with the United States Capitol riot.
Some Democrats intend to expel Republicans from Congress who contested the Electoral College’s votes at last month’s certification ceremony. Democrats are probably convinced by corporate cancellators to end PAC donations for up to seven Republican senators and 138 Republican Party members who opposed voters in six states.

“Can you imagine telling your supporters that the only way to lose is if an American election is rigged and stolen from you?” Congressman Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, the House’s impeachment manager, asked Wednesday during the Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald J. Trump.
“Ask yourself if you’ve seen anyone at any level of government make the same claim about their own election, but that’s exactly what President Trump did. He really made his base believe that the only way to lose would be if the election be manipulated. “
There are two major problems with the left’s war against these Republicans and, by extension, Trump’s 74 million supporters:
• First, the actions of these Republican lawmakers were perfectly legal. Article II, Section I, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution and the 1887 Electoral Counting Act, 3 United States Code § 15, regulated their objections to state voters.
The respective House and Senate debates on Republican Party skepticism about Grand Canyon state voters – offered by Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona with 60 Housemates and Texas Senator Ted Cruz plus eight senators – were interrupted in the middle of speech by idiotic and counterproductive protesters.
After order was restored about seven hours later, deliberations were resumed. Gosar-Cruz’s offer ended up failing in the Chamber, with 121 to 303 rejections. Likewise, it sank in the Senate, six yes to 93 no.
Republican Party representative Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and 80 House Republicans opposed Keystone state voters. Hawley joined the challenge. His effort ended up losing in the Chamber, 138 yes to 282 no. The Senate voted similarly, seven yes to 92 no.
Many House Republicans also opposed voters in Georgia (Peach State’s Jody Hice and 75 Republican Party opponents), Michigan (Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene and 70 colleagues), Nevada (Alabama’s Mo Brooks and 55 more) and Wisconsin (Louis Gohmert of Texas and 71 others). Since no senator cooperated with any of these objections, they were not heard.

All of this legislative activity followed the Constitution and federal laws.
“Litigating electoral integrity issues within this system is not incitement,” President Trump’s defense attorney Michael van der Veen said on Friday afternoon during the Senate impeachment trial. “It is the democratic system functioning as the founders and legislators designed it.”
• Second, Democrats have repeatedly resisted voters for four years. When Democrats do this, it is the epitome of public service. When Republicans do that, it’s Kristallnacht. In fact, President Joe “Unity” Biden compared Cruz and Hawley to the Nazi Minister of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment, Dr. Joseph Goebbels.
As Congressional record confirms, during the four-year January 6, 2017 session / certification ceremony, seven House Democrats challenged voters in 10 states. Among these objectors: this week’s top impeachment manager, Jamie Raskin of Maryland.
“I have an objection because 10 of Florida’s 29 electoral votes were cast by non-legally certified voters,” complained Raskin.

Democrats understandably turned down voters in Michigan and Wisconsin, which Trump won by 0.3% and 1.0%, respectively.
Whatever these Democrats believed went wrong, it may have been decisive. However, Democrats also opposed voters in Alabama (where Trump overtook Hillary by 28.3%), West Virginia (42.2%) and Wyoming (47.6%). This was recreational obstructionism.

No senator joined the fun. So the House Democrats’ objections got nowhere.
“You will remember,” said van der Veen, “it was [then-vice-president] Joe Biden, who had to hammer them. “
On January 4, 2013 and January 9, 2009, Republicans raised no objection to the votes of Obama’s Electoral College.
But on January 6, 2005, the Democrats were back. Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio objected to the votes of George W. Bush’s Electoral College in her state. Senator Barbara Boxer of California agreed. On January 6, 2021, the Chamber and the Senate separated to discuss this challenge separately.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Commended the 31 Democratic opponents for “speaking out in defense of their offended voters” during “their only opportunity to have this debate while the country is listening”.
However, the House Democrats’ challenge failed, 31 to 267 failed.
“The fight for electoral justice,” argued Senator Boxer, “was worth a few hours to shed some light on these issues.”
Boxer’s objection plummeted – it was a yes to 74 no.
On January 6, 2001, 13 House Democrats, including five current incumbents, focused their fire on Florida voters for GW Bush.
“Mr. Vice President, I stand up to oppose the fraudulent 25 Florida electoral [sic] votes, “said Congresswoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif.” The objection is in writing, and I don’t care that it is not signed by a member of the Senate. “
Vice President Albert Gore replied dryly, “The president will inform you that the rules apply and that a senator’s signature is required.”
No senator took a step forward and the House Democrats’ challenge stopped.
Electoral votes have remained undisputed since January 6, 1969, when Edmund Muskie, D-Me. and six other senators joined James O’Hara, D-Mich. and 37 members of the Chamber.
They opposed Dr. Lloyd W. Bailey’s “unfaithful voter” offer to support independent American candidate George Wallace for president, although Bailey’s state in North Carolina supported Richard Milhous Nixon, and Bailey was in favor of Nixon before to be against him. Democrats and Republicans defended both sides of that debate.
The Senate voted 33 yes to 58 no against Muskie-O’Hara’s objection. The Chamber’s challenge also failed, 170 yes to 228 no.

Unlike unjustly criticized Republicans, Democrats faced no repercussions when they repeatedly exercised their power protected by the constitution and allowed by law to challenge the votes of the Electoral College.
Democrats should abandon their congenital hypocrisy and recognize the right of their fellow Republicans to behave like Democrats.
