LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – Denzel Washington’s police thriller “The Little Things” topped the box office charts again, grossing $ 2.1 million in its second launch weekend.

Abroad, “The Little Things” raised $ 1.4 million in ticket sales from 20 countries. The R-rated film has grossed $ 7.8 million in the United States and Canada and $ 5.2 million internationally so far.

Directed by John Lee Hancock, “The Little Things” debuted simultaneously on the HBO Max streaming service. With the United States box office practically paralyzed, Warner Bros. made the decision (which was met with vocal reaction) to repeat this hybrid strategy for his entire 2021 film.

Second, Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s “The Croods: A New Age” generated $ 1.7 million. After 11 weeks in theaters, the sequel to “Croods” grossed $ 46 million domestically. While there aren’t many big-screen offerings for audiences to choose from today, their box office has been notable because “The Croods: A New Age” is available to rent on premium video-on-demand platforms for two months. Abroad, the film raised US $ 808,000, bringing its international total to US $ 101.6 million and the global collection to US $ 147.6 million.

Liam Neeson’s thriller, “The Marksman”, came in third place, raising $ 1 million on 2,018 screens. This brings your total acquisition to $ 9.1 million. “Wonder Woman 1984” came in fourth with $ 905,000 from 1,818 locations in the United States. The Warner Bros. superhero adventure, which also debuted simultaneously on HBO Max, amassed $ 40 million at the national box office and $ 154 million worldwide.

Sony’s Monster Hunter closed the top five with $ 590,000 on its eighth launch weekend. The video game adaptation, starring Milla Jovovich, has raised $ 11.8 million to date.

Abroad, Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” – which is not showing in national cinemas and is only available to the American public on Disney Plus – continues to sell tickets. The film is performing particularly well in China, where it raised $ 55.8 and officially went from “Incredibles 2” ($ 53.7 million) to become the country’s second-largest Pixar release of all time. In total, “Soul” raised $ 6.9 million in 11 international countries, increasing its foreign reward to $ 96.2 million.
