Denzel Washington, twice an Oscar winner, was teary-eyed when talking about his eldest son, John David, in a rare display of public emotion on Sunday.

It came after the New York Times called the legendary 66-year-old man ‘the greatest actor of the 21st century’ in November.

“It was about time,” 36-year-old action star Tenet told Access Hollywood last month.

Incidentally, Denzel’s 29-year-old daughter marked the role of Amy Anders in her next film, The Little Things.

Washington is also the father of daughter Katia, 33, and son Malcolm, 29, from his 37-year marriage to Pauletta Pearson.

The actor couple originally met on the 1977 set of the NBC film Wilma, and renewed their vows at a ceremony held in 1995 by anti-apartheid activist Desmond Tutu in South Africa.

Next, Denzel will play Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe ‘Deke’ Deacon in The Little Things, which opens in US / HBO Max cinemas on January 29 and in UK cinemas on February 12.

John Lee Hancock’s serial killer thriller also stars Oscar-winning duo Rami Malek and Jared Leto.
