Denver Broncos NFL draft wish list: George Paton, get your guy

Good morning, Broncos Country!

A wish list is always a risky proposition.

On the one hand, you are preparing for failure. And in the words of Peter La Fleur of “Dodgeball:”

“I found that if you have a goal, you may not be able to reach it. But, if you don’t have one, you’ll never be disappointed. And I have to tell you … it’s phenomenal. ”

With that in mind, I don’t have a wish list for George Paton and the Denver Broncos, per se. As I already played on the MHR Radio Podcast and other channels, I want to stay married, so I can’t concentrate on college football like I do in the Broncos and the NFL.

My only “wish” is for Paton to go and get “your guy”. If there is a player he wants in the NFL draft, go get him. I understand the whole notion of letting the board play, but it just screams reactive to me. Be proactive and make bold moves, especially if you are a player that he feels can make the Broncos better.

This is true regardless of position, not just the defender. But it is especially true if it is. If Paton really likes Justin Fields or Trey Lance, go get him. Don’t take any chances and risk that your guy isn’t there when you choose 9th place.

A lot of that will depend on what the San Francisco 49ers will do with choice # 3. Many people seem to think that the focus on Mac Jones is a big distraction from who they really want. I tend to think that it is not a distraction, but I am not a doctor. Kyle Pitts for the Atlanta Falcons in fourth place makes a lot of sense, as they have just re-signed Matt Ryan. If Fields and / or Lance is there at No. 5 and Paton wants one, call Cincinnati Bengals and go.

Of course, if Paton doesn’t feel that way about a prospect in the draft, he has shown that he will be patient. He said that he and the Broncos will not be reckless. Whatever he chooses to do in a few weeks will be analyzed and examined in every way possible.

Based on what Paton did in freedom of action to improve defense and secondary, Denver is in a good position to end with a strong draft. This starts with choosing the first round.

If there’s a guy that Paton wants, that the Broncos want, go get him.
