Democrats pressure Loeffler and Perdue over Trump by asking Georgia election officials to ‘find’ votes

Democrats are putting pressure on Republicans Georgia Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue in the last days before the second round of elections, after the launch of a taped call in which President Trump asked Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to help him find enough votes to reverse the outcome of the state in the November presidential election.

At one point during the conversation, which was obtained by the Washington Post, Trump could be heard saying, “All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than us, because we won the state. ” On the call, Trump insisted he won by thousands and thousands of votes.

“This is a direct attack on our democracy and if David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler had a piece of steel in their spines, a fragment of integrity, they would be here defending Georgia voters from this type of attack,” Perdue’s opponent, Jon Ossoff , said at a campaign event on Sunday night.

At the same event, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said Trump’s call sounded like “the voice of despair” and called it “abuse of power”.

Loeffler’s opponent, Raphael Warnock, challenged Loeffler on Twitter to speak out against the president, whom she strongly supported throughout the campaign season.

“Georgia elected @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarrris. That’s a fact,” tweeted Warnock. “@KLoeffler has a responsibility to speak out against these unfounded allegations of fraud, to defend Georgia’s elections and to put Georgia ahead of itself. But it didn’t. And it never will.”

Fox News contacted the Loeffler and Perdue campaigns for comment, but they did not respond immediately. Perdue answered the call in a Fox News appearance ‘”The Next Revolution” on Sunday night.

“I don’t think it will affect our election,” said Perdue. “I’m still shocked that a member of the Republican Party will record the incumbent president and then leak it. It’s disgusting in my opinion.”

Perdue added that what Trump said on the call “was no different from what he has been saying for the past two months”.
