After more than a decade battling an eating disorder, exercise addiction and alcohol, Demi Lovato has apparently returned to normal. The 28-year-old recently opened up about finally feeling happy and more like her more “authentic” personality in a social media post that is attracting mixed reactions.

On Monday, Lovato took to Instagram to show off his “accidental” weight loss – overflowing with his transformation and crediting it simply by turning a page.

“I lost weight accidentally,” wrote the singer. “I don’t count more calories, I don’t exercise anymore, I don’t restrict or purge, and especially I don’t live my life according to the culture of the diet. And I really lost weight. It’s a different experience, but I feel full. but of divine wisdom and cosmic guidance. Peace, serenity, joy and love. “

Last month, Lovato revealed on “The Ellen Show” that after years of struggling with her appearance, she has reached a point where she feels comfortable in her own skin – largely thanks to her new dramatic pixie haircut.

“I talked a lot about my past and how I am recovering from an eating disorder,” she said. “I used to use my hair to hide behind. It would cover my body. So, when I started doing all this work on myself, I thought, ‘What is something I have been holding on to all my life that I need to let go? ‘And that was it. I feel more like myself now. “

For the most part, Lovato fans are proud of their personal progress. However, some have speculated that his recent weight loss is worrying and contradictory to some of the philosophies Lovato has espoused in the past.

“I’m not sure how I feel about it coming from a body with ED (eating disorder)? I understand that you’re saying that ‘accidentally’ lost weight by eating intuitively, but the message of being in a smaller body makes me a little nervous , “a fan joined the conversation.

“Are you still promoting weight loss? I am confused that this post is still stimulating for people with active eating disorders and you are implying that weight loss is still the goal,” added another person.

“I would be lying if I said that I am not really confused by this post. On the one hand, you deserve to celebrate your achievements. Go from a disordered diet and succumb to your mental illness to eat what you want and reach a healthy and safe space it is important and requires a lot of work and should be celebrated and shouted from above “, wrote another. “I would never try to take that away from anyone. But a post to lose weight? It almost undoes all the positivity that comes from that.”

“It seems counterproductive to make a post about losing weight saying that you don’t fit into the culture of the diet and you’re not practicing disorderly eating,” said one follower. “It’s the same narrative, just different words.”

Last year, Lovato revealed details about her eating disorder to Ashley Graham in an episode of her podcast, “Pretty Big Deal”, explaining that there were times when she thought she had achieved recovery, when in fact, she was still struggling.

“There were times when I lived at the gym,” she said. “I would eat a meal, I would work out. And that is not happiness for me. This is not freedom. I was throwing myself to the ground and, honestly, I think that was what led to everything happening last year, ”she continued. “It was just me thinking that I found recovery when I didn’t, and then living that kind of lie and trying to tell the world that I was happy with myself when in fact I wasn’t.”
