Demi Lovato to star in Hazy Mills comedy on NBC’s NBC – Deadline

Demi Lovato is returning to the television script in a food comedy being produced on NBC.

Lovato, who had his chance on Disney Channel’s Camp Rock franchise and starred in Sonny with a chance, is to star and produce exec Hungry, which received a pilot commitment from NBC.

The single camera comedy is being written and produced by executives Will and grace writer and Cleveland Hot creator Suzanne Martin. It comes from Hazy Mills and SB Projects in association with Universal Television.

Hungry follows a group of friends who belong to a group of food issues that help each other in search of love, success and what’s perfect in the refrigerator that will make everything better.

‘Weakest Link’ renewed for season 2 on NBC

Lovato, herself, appeared in a special role last season. Will and grace, her first role since she starred as a guest in Joy in 2013. The singer, who battled bipolar disorder and addiction, is the subject of a series of YouTube Originals documents Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil, that will debut on SXSW.

Lovato and Martin will serve as executive producers with Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, from Hazy Mills, and Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson, from SB Projects.

This is the last collaboration between Martin and Hazy Mills, who have worked almost exclusively since the partnership in Cleveland Hot on TV Land. Their joint projects include Cleveland Hot by-product Soul Man, NBC comedy series Crowded and NBC pilots As a family in 2018 and last year Jefferies, that was rolled into this cycle.

Hazy Mills also several other projects currently under development at NBC, lightweight procedures Des & Lou, written by David Slack, Uncivil, a comedy by Roast Battle creator Rell Battle and Middle East Minute creator Pardis Parker, Talk Show The Game Show with Guy Branum and The Stratford, a reimagination of William Shakespeare’s world.

SB Projects, whose boss Scooter Braun manages Lovato, is behind the CBS drama Scorpion and FXX’s Dave has an initial contract with Amazon Studios, where he is developing The Undesirable, with Ken Cheng and Arvin Chen.
