Delta passenger experiencing ‘medical condition’ declared dead after flight diverts to Sacramento: report

A Delta flight from Mexico was diverted on Thursday after a passenger died in the middle of the flight.

The Delta 1837 flight left San José del Cabo for Seattle when the passenger went through a “medical situation,” a Delta spokesman confirmed to Fox News on Friday. The flight was diverted to Sacramento International Airport at 7 pm.

“The Delta 1837 flight operating to Seattle was diverted to Sacramento International Airport after a medical condition on board a passenger,” said the spokesman in an e-mailed statement. “The flight was received in Sacramento by a medical team, where it served the passenger on the spot.”

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, CBS Sacramento reported.

The traveler, who was not identified in the report, was said to have died of natural causes, examiners at the Coroner’s Office in Sacramento County said.

The rest of the passengers aboard Delta 1837 arrived in Seattle shortly after 9 pm PST, approximately 1.5 hours late.
