Deion Sanders, from the Professional Football Hall of Fame, is 1-0 as a college coach.
Sanders became the coach of Jackson State University last September and waited until Sunday to make his side debut because the school postponed the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The opponent in the debut was Edward Waters College and Sanders’ squad didn’t have much trouble to win.
Tigers built a 31-0 lead at half-time and went on to win 53-0, starting their eight game schedule. Jackson State will play at Mississippi Valley State next weekend.
Sanders was visited by one of his former teammates before the game. Rashad Milligan’s Mississippi Clarion Ledger shared a video of Troy Aikman greeting Sanders on the field before the victory.
