Deathloop brings back powers of dishonor, as well as free-form murders

During the IGN Fan Fest Deathloop panel, developer Arkane revealed several interesting new details about the mechanics that drive his next time loop murder game. Among these recent facts is the news that it will feature returning powers from the Dishonored series, as well as modifications in the enchanted bone style for both weapons and their character. will appear on Deathloop. “As much as we wanted to do something very original with this game, we also wanted some familiarity,” he explained.

“We decided to bring back some of the powers that we have in the Dishonored series,” he continued. “I think it’s something that will make players feel at home. And then there are some twists and turns. I think it is a good overview of the main tools of the player. “

Watch the new exclusive trailer below:Bakaba was unable to reveal exactly what those powers are, but we can already see in the gameplay trailer that the protagonist Colt is able to use a teleportation ability similar to Dishonored’s Blink. Hopefully, there will be some fun twists to other Dishonored skills; something like Emily’s Domino skill would certainly come in handy.

Also similar to Dishonored, you’ll find items from around the world that can modify your weapons and your own physical body.

“Baubles are small pieces of metal imbued with the power of the anomaly that is causing the time loop,” explained Bakaba. “By equipping these trinkets, you can change the properties of your weapons. In addition, you can also use some Trinkets to really change yourself, being able to jump higher, run faster, regenerate a little health by murdering someone, things like that. “

The trinkets provide passive updates, so much like Dishonored’s bone charms. But if you need a more significant update, you will need to hunt for a slab. “The slabs allow the user to do several things,” said Bakaba. “So, for example, Alexis, one of the targets, has a slab called Kinesis that allows him to throw people around, forwards, backwards, upwards, sideways etc. He will actually use this to launch his own allies against you. I even saw him throw Juliana at me once. And, of course, you can take that power from him and use it. “

As Slabs provide very powerful skills, they are among the rarest items in the world. “There is not even a Slab by Visionary,” said Bakaba, referring to Deathloop’s eight main targets. “Most Visionaries have their own Slabs, and the only way to get them is to defeat one of these Visionaries and take them with you.”

Check out the full IGN Fan Fest panel below:These powers will help you solve Deathloop’s comprehensive puzzle: how to kill all eight Visionaries in one day. This will interrupt the time loop. However, its targets are located in different parts of the island, with two in each of the four districts. You can approach each target individually, but you will run out of time and the loop will restart. The secret is to find out how to gather targets at different times of the day, so that several Visionaries can be eliminated in an attack.

It is important to note that there is only one way to kill all targets in time. “To align them, there is only one solution, so in reality, the game is a gigantic puzzle that you need to solve and complete that puzzle,” said Bakaba. “There is a way to break the time loop.”

While there is a golden solution to ensure that all targets are in place, how you kill those targets is entirely up to you. “There are some ways that we open up for you, like opportunities to maybe use the environment, or learn about some dangerous things that are at your levels, or do [the target] weaker in different ways, ”said Bakaba. “So there are some things that we kind of prepare for you, but overall, yes, you can reach the target however you want.” Of course, this is similar to Dishonored, which offers some suggested execution methods, but ultimately leaves the approach in your hands.

The time it takes to solve this puzzle varies in how long it takes you to discover the individual parts of your solution, as well as how much exploration and experimentation you want to do, but Bakaba suggested a “focused” playthrough, adhering to the main path of the game , will be “comparable to our previous games” in length.
