“He was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned with running away and hiding than seeking help,” continued Crump’s post. “Polevich’s behavior was criminal, cowardly and immoral. We will hold him responsible for his reckless actions that led to the death of Robert Maraj!”
Polevich’s lawyer, Marc C. Gann, sent the following statement to Advertising panel: “Mr. Polevich expressed empathy and condolences to the Maraj family. Although the civil case is not unexpected, the criminal charges pending against Mr. Polevich are unrelated to the civil case. It has not yet been determined whether there was negligence involved in the accident or the degrees of any negligence. I add that the amount required is shocking to say the least and I do not think it is at all reasonable.
Advertising panel also contacted a Nicki Minaj representative for comment.
Robert Maraj, Minaj’s father, was hit by a car in Mineola, New York. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead on February 13.
Police arrested Polevich, who was accused of leaving the scene of an incident and tampering with physical evidence related to Maraj’s death.
“He was absolutely aware of what happened,” Nassau County Police Detective Lieutenant Stephen Fitzpatrick said at a news conference last month, according to the Associated Press. “He got out of the car and looked at the deceased, got in his car and made the conscious decision to get out instead of dialing 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man. He went home and removed the vehicle. He’s fine aware of what he did. “
Minaj, who in the past talked about having a strained relationship with her father, has made no public statement about his death.
