Dead man, Oklahoma policeman injured in morning shootout

ANADARKO, Oklahoma – Oklahoma police shot a man dead on Monday morning after he drew a gun while officers responded to a drug overdose involving another person, officials said.

The shooting took place just before 1 am in Anadarko, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma State Department of Investigation said Anadarko police were trying to help a person who allegedly overdosed when Silas Lambert, 25, pulled out a gun.

A gunfire ensued and an Anadarko officer was wounded and sustained non-fatal injuries, officials said. Lambert was shot and later declared dead in a hospital.

The person who allegedly overdosed also died at the scene, police said. The shooting is under investigation.
