DC teen girls accused of deadly car theft attempt

Two teenage girls are accused of a failed car theft in Washington, DC, which ended with the death of a 66-year-old man, police said.

Mohammed Anwar of Springfield, Virginia, died in an accident on N Street in Southeast DC, near Nationals Park.

Police said the two teenagers attacked Anwar with a taser about a block from the accident site at around 4:30 pm. The man was dragged and killed in the 1200 block of Van Street, SE, FOX 5 DC reported.

First District members arrived at the scene and located an adult man suffering from life-threatening injuries, “police said.

The DC Fire and Medical Emergency Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to a GoFundMe page created to help Anwar’s family pay for funeral expenses, Anwar was a Pakistani immigrant. The page says he was working on a delivery of UberEats when the two attackers tried to kidnap him.

The suspected teenagers were arrested and charged with manslaughter and armed car theft, police said.

The girls’ identities were not disclosed because of their age. In a statement provided to Fox News, DC police said the girls are between 13 and 15 years old.

The 13-year-old boy is from Southeast DC, while the 15-year-old boy is from Fort Washington, Maryland, police said.
