DAYTONA 500 SECOND PRACTICE
Only 27 NASCAR Cup Series riders were able to take a lap before the rain quickly ended Saturday morning’s second practice session for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Brad Keselowski managed to score the fastest lap before the red flag was displayed. Team No. 2 Team Penske Ford was forced to launch a spare car after an accident in the second race of the Bluegreen Vacation Duel on Thursday night, meaning it will start at the rear of the field on Sunday.

Daytona 500 polesitter Alex Bowman failed to complete a lap, but managed to get his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet No. 48 on the track while they continued to diagnose a problem. Bowman hit the pit road in the middle of the first duel race while team members looked under the hood after Bowman reported that the car had lost some power. After returning to the track, Bowman reported that the engine had returned to full power, but also complained about vibration. So far, team # 48 has not opted for a spare car.
On the other hand, Daytona 500 front row starter William Byron and team # 24 were forced to release the reserve car after crashing in the second duel race on Thursday night. Byron failed to make a lap in the Saturday morning session.
