Dave Grohl says he still dreams of returning to Nirvana

Dave Grohl revealed that he still dreams of seeing him back in his old band, Nirvana.

The lead singer of Foo Fighters, who was the drummer for Nirvana until the tragic death of vocalist Kurt Cobain in 1994, only plays the band’s tracks live with former bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.

In a new interview, Grohl revealed that he still dreams of the band and explained why he would never play the tracks alone.

“I wouldn’t feel comfortable singing a song that Kurt sang,” he said Classic rock. “I feel perfectly at home playing these songs on the drums. And I love playing them with Krist and Pat and another singer ”.

“I still dream that we are in Nirvana, that we are still a band,” he continued. “I still dream that there is an empty arena waiting for us to play.

“But I don’t sit at home and read ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ by myself. It’s just a reminder that the person responsible for these beautiful songs is no longer with us. It’s bittersweet. “

Last month, Grohl discussed how the Foo Fighters finally decided to release their new album ‘Medicine At Midnight’ after delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The album, which will be Foos’ 10th studio album, is scheduled for release on February 5, 2021, although the band originally intended to release it in 2020 to mark their 25th anniversary.

After sitting on the album for a while, Grohl made a decision. “So six or seven months went by and I was like, ‘We make this song for people to hear. We don’t do this just so we can hit the road. We write these songs so that people can enjoy them and sing along, whether in their kitchen alone with a bottle of Crown Royal or in a jumping stadium, singing the choruses ”.

He continued, “So I was, like, now, more than ever, people need something to lift their spirits, something that gives them some sense of relief or escape. I was like, ‘We have to launch. We will launch right now. ‘

“I don’t know when we’re going to hit the road, but we need to give the music to people, because that’s why we do it.”

Foo Fighters shared the second single from their new album ‘Medicine At Midnight’ – listen to ‘No Son Of Mine’ here.
