Dataminers discover new set of movements for Thundurus – Therian Forme | Pokémon GO Wiki

This represents an increase of about 13% in his DPS, which is just enough to give Thundurus – Therian Form the title of non-Shadow / Mega Electric type Pokémon with the highest DPS in Pokémon Go to date.

But is it all what it looks like with Thundurus?

Although his DPS and TDO have seen a very solid increase, he also has some notable shortcomings. The first is the fact that its closest competitor is Zekrom. Zekrom has an impact and is substantially more bulky than Thundurus, presenting a much higher ODD that makes it much more attractive due to the small difference in DPS between the two. In terms of typing, they are quite close. Both are weak electrical types for ice-type blows and also resist grass-type blows. However, Zekrom typing is also generally superior in its ability to withstand Water-type movements, one of two types against which Electric is Super Effective. Flying brings some advantages to the table, but they tend to be more specific than what Dragon does for Zekrom.

The other problem is its rapid movement. Volt Switch is a good move overall, but it’s weaker than Thunder Shock, and it’s also very slowly. This is a problem for a Pokémon like Thundurus, which cannot rely on its bulk to save it through various strong movements, as it makes dodging quite difficult. Players with the intent to dodge may find themselves waiting to use the Volt Switch in preparation for a predicted charged move, which can corrode their DPS substantially over time.

So, these questions make Thundurus – Therian Forme bad? No, anyway. It is still a strong Pokémon that is worth cultivating when it hits raids. However, players with strong shadows or an improved Zekrom are likely to find less use in Pokémon Bolt Strike (its real species name, not to be confused with Zekrom’s characteristic attack), as its disadvantages should definitely be taken into account. Assess your team’s needs before investing in Thundurus – Therian Forme, but don’t be afraid to add it to your team!
