Daniel Jeremiah’s simulation sketch sends Zach Wilson to the jets

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network posted his latest simulation sketch. He has the Jets choosing a quarterback with the second overall selection.

Zach WilsonQB

School: BYU | Year: Junior

The Jets have a lot of options here, but I think the decision ultimately rests with Wilson against Sam Darnold. With a new coach, they decide to start from scratch as a defender.

The Jets have a second choice in the first round, thanks to Jamal Adams’ trade. With this selection Jeremiah makes the team seek to improve the defensive side of the ball.

Ronnie Perkins · Edge rusher

School: Oklahoma | Year: Junior

Perkins is a very productive edge rusher who plays with physicality and tremendous effort.

Obviously, more attention will be paid to Wilson’s selection. What the Jets will do as a quarterback is the topic that will dominate off-season discussions. The Deshaun Watson saga will obviously have a lot to do with the direction of the choice. If the Jets can negotiate for Watson, the second choice is likely to be debatable as it will belong to Houston. If Watson plays elsewhere in 2021, the question will be whether the Jets will choose a replacement for Darnold or stay with him. Like Jeremiah, I am inclined to believe that they will start again.

Some will probably notice that Jeremiah worked with Joe Douglas on the Baltimore board, but I wouldn’t understand that he definitely knows how the Jets rank defenders in this year’s class or whether they like Wilson more than Justin Fields.
