During the week of tracking the new chart, on February 10, Wallen released a five-minute video on social media addressing the emergence of February 2 from a previous video that showed him using the word N. In the tracking week that captured the initial fallout for the February 2 video, Dangerous spent the fourth week in first place (with a 14% gain in units won in the week ending February 4).
Among the albums that featured on both the Top Country Albums and the Billboard 200, the last to reach five weeks out of the total number 1 on the Billboard 200 was Taylor Swift. Red, with seven non-consecutive weeks topping the list in 2012-13. The last country defined to register your first five weeks in the first place was Shania Twain Above (December 7, 2002 to January 4, 2003). The last country album by a male artist to score five weeks first on the Billboard 200 – and his first five weeks in the lead – was Garth Brooks’ Double Live in late 1998 and early 1999, which spent its first five (and in total) weeks in the first place (December 5, 1998 – January 2, 1999).
While Dangerous remains first, Wallen’s previous 2018 album If I know myself, reaches the top 10 for the first time, rising from 17 to 10 – surpassing its previous high of No. 13 (reached on the chart of August 20, 2020). If I know myself rises with 29,000 equivalent album units won in the week ending February 11 (up 33%) – which also marks the album’s best weeks in terms of units won.
In If I know myselfof the sum of 29,000 units, 17,000 include SEA units (12% increase, equaling 24.95 million on-demand streams of the songs), 10,000 include album sales (101% increase, the best week of album sales to date) and 2,000 include TEA units (up to 16%).
Back at the top of the charts, the new retrospective compilation of 18 songs from The Weeknd The highlights debuts in second position (89,000 equivalent album units won) – the biggest hit chart in over a year. The last best-of to see such great heights on the chart was Blake Shelton Fully loaded: God’s country, which debuted and reached second place on the list dated December 28, 2019.
The highlights was released on February 5, two days before The Weeknd played the Super Bowl halftime show on February 7.
In The highlights‘The sum of 89,000 units, 70,000 includes SEA units (equaling 101.94 million on-demand streams of the songs), 10,000 includes album sales and 9,000 includes TEA units.
The highlights boasts 11 of The Weeknd’s 12 biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Among the songs on the album are two that are also on their most recent studio album, 2020’s After hours: “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears”. The TEA and SEA units for both songs contribute to The highlights on the chart when a song’s activity is attributed to the artist’s top selling album in a week. (After hours sold 6,000 copies in the last week of tracking, while The highlights sold 10,000. Due to the reassignment of the track, After hours moves 4-37 on the Billboard 200, with 15,000 units won – minus 57%.)
In total, The highlights is The Weeknd’s seventh album in the top 10, all of its mapping efforts – and they all reached the top five on the list.
Foo Fighters flies in third place with the band’s new studio album Midnight remedy, marking the ninth top 10 of the group. The set is released with 70,000 equivalent album units won. Of this sum, 64,000 are album sales (the album is No. 1 in sales of the week), 6,000 include SEA units (equaling 7.66 million streams on demand for the set’s songs) and an insignificant number comprises TEA units.
The third and final debut in the top 10 is Pooh Shiesty’s Shy Season, which bows to fourth position with 62,000 equivalent album units won. It is the release of the rapper’s first album, and was led by his first hit Hot 100, the top 40 “Back in Blood”, with Lil Durk. Pooh Shiesty, 21, was previously named one of the Advertising panel2021 Artists to Watch, and also considered the Hip-Hop and R&B Rookie of the Month for February.
Lil Durk’s The voice drops from 2 to 5 with 49,000 equivalent album units won (down 43%), while the former leader of Pop Smoke Shoot the stars aim the moon 3-6 dives with 41,000 units (down 4%). Three other previous chart leaders are close in the top 10, like Ariana Grande Positions rises 9-7 with 32,000 units (up 14%), Juice WRLD’s Legends never die drops 5-8 with 30,000 units (down 2%) and Luke Combs’ What you see is what you Get 6 to 9 drops with almost 30,000 units (down 1%).
As noted earlier, Wallen’s If I know myself closes the top 10, jumping 17-10 with 29,000 units (up 33%).
