Dana White thinks Kevin Holland had ‘mental breakdown’

UFC President Dana White was perplexed by Kevin Holland at the UFC main event on ESPN 21.

The Netherlands (21-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) had its five-game winning streak won by Derek Brunson (22-7 MMA, 13-5 UFC) in Saturday’s unanimous middleweight loss at UFC Apex in Las Vegas .

Although Holland joined the fight known for his cage conversations and turbulent acts, he took this to a new level in the fight with Brunson. He talked from the start of the fight, and even talked to White and former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who were standing next to the cage.

White thinks that Holland’s level of vocation while he was being knocked down and losing rounds to Brunson was triggered by breaking under the pressure of the stage.

“I think it was a mental breakdown,” UFC president Dana White told Yahoo! Sports. “The only other thing I saw was [in boxing] when Lennox Lewis fought that guy [Oliver McCall] who kept her hands at her sides and cried. I don’t know what he was doing. I think he may not have been able to handle the pressure and just broke down mentally. I didn’t see anything like that. “

White was not the only one who thought of Holland’s antics. Several fighters collaborated on social networks while the fight was going on, and while some were having fun, others were criticizing.

Holland said on the UFC’s post-fight show on ESPN 21 that he is considering a drop to the welterweight division after his first loss since October 2019.
