Dan Harmon from Rick and Morty working on a comedy set in Ancient Greece

Dan Harmon, the Emmy-winning co-creator of Rick and Morty, continues to develop a new animated comedy series at Fox, set in mythical ancient Greece. According to IndieWire, Fox has just announced details of the next series, revealing that the story is set to unfold in ancient Greece and will be centered on “an imperfect family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to rule one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. ” The agency also noted that the voice cast for the series is underway, with more announcements expected at a later date.“Let Dan Harmon turn the myths of Greek civilization into remarkably sharp comments about today’s politics, celebrities and pop culture,” said Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn. “This project is an incredibly irreverent family comedy, told by one of the most inventive storytellers in the city. We are proud to be partners with Dan in this series, which strengthens our dominance in the animation space and as we continue to build Fox Entertainment , marks an important first step for us with our first fully scripted property. “The new project stems from Fox’s 2020 animation contract with Harmon, which included a serial commitment to an animated comedy show premiering on network in the spring of 2022. Fox Entertainment is producing the series, and Bento Box Entertainment, owned by Fox, the studio behind Bob’s Burgers, is serving as the project’s animation house.

The 10 Biggest Rick and Morty One-Liners

Fox has a lot of adult animation today, having in the past two years added to its list of The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers, along with Bless the Harts, Duncanville, The Great North and the coming Housebroken. However, this new Harmon project will be Fox Entertainment’s first fully animated series.

Outside of this new series, Rick and Morty fans have a lot to look forward to with the future of the successful sci-fi sitcom Adult Swim. During an Adult Swim Con Rick and Morty panel last year, Harmon shared a preview of Season 5 with Rick’s enemy, Mr. Nimbus, and also gave updates on Season 5 production and Season 6 status.
