The Trail Blazers extended their current winning streak to four games after Sunday’s victory over the Mavericks. In Dallas, the Blazers faced a notable challenge due to irregular refereeing in the first half. After the game, Damian Lillard spoke to Trail Blazers digital reporter Casey Holdahl about these fights.
Lillard explained to Holdahl that it seemed that all bets were against the Blazers in the first half.
“We felt it was a very unfortunate first half for us,” said Damian Lillard. “We came out playing well to start the game, but then it looked like we couldn’t do anything right. Everything was dirty here, there. And then we went down and felt that we were not hearing the whistle. It was like, ‘Okay, now what?’ “
After a technical foul caused by frustration and the break in the break, Lillard highlighted how the Blazers changed their minds in the second half.
“So we left the locker room and it was like, we are not going to complain, we are not going to come here and act like something is being taken from us,” said Lillard. “If we are going to win this game, we have to go ahead. I think that was the energy we had to start the second half and that was what changed the game and gave us the victory. “
Lillard would score 23 of his 34 points in the second half. Thanks to their heroism at the end of the game, the Blazers maintained their small lead in the final moments of the game.
